There's something truly special about warm summer evenings in Chicagoland. As the air cools and the sun sinks down, it's the perfect time to enjoy the city's outdoor attractions.

Watching a movie out under the stars is one of our real estate agents' favorite ways to spend a night in the Chicago area. Whether you're a film buff or simply want an easy, family-friendly activity for the evening hours, these summer outdoor movie nights might be just what you're looking for.

  • Movies at Gallagher Way - 3635 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60613
Located adjacent to Wrigley Field in Chicago's lively Wrigleyville neighborhood, Gallagher Way is an open-air green space that hosts a wide range of public events, including movie screenings. Held periodically throughout the warmer months, Movies at Gallagher Way are free to the general public. Concessions are available onsite, and attendees are also welcome to bring their own food and drink (no outside alcohol is permitted). Upcoming movies include Moana 2 on August 13 and Crazy Rich Asians on August 27. Gates open at 6 p.m. and movies start at 7:30.

  • Millennium Park Summer Film Series - 201 E Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60601
Spanning nearly 25 acres on the Lake Michigan shoreline within the Chicago Loop, Millennium Park is one of the city's great public parks, known for its picturesque gardens and public art installations. The park also hosts the weekly Millennium Park Summer Film Series throughout July and August. Each Tuesday evening, movies are screened at the park's Jay Pritzker Pavilion beneath the backdrop of the downtown Chicago skyline. Upcoming screenings include Wicked on August 12 and Pride and Prejudice on August 19.

  • Fulton Market Rooftop Cinema Club - 311 N Morgan St, 5th Floor, Chicago, IL 60607
With the twinkling lights of Chicago's skyscrapers in the background, the Fulton Market Rooftop Cinema Club is one of the most consistently excellent places to see outdoor films in Chicagoland. Located in the Fulton Market District of Chicago's West Loop neighborhood, the rooftop cinema shows multiple classic movies nearly every day through September 1. Tickets and a complete schedule can be found on the Fulton Market website. Concessions and chair rentals are available, and personal headphones are provided for a fully immersive movie experience.

  • Movies in the Parks - Multiple Locations
All summer long, Movies in the Parks transforms public parks all over Chicagoland into outdoor movie theaters. Showing a broad assortment of Hollywood classics and recent blockbusters, Movies in the Parks offer dozens of opportunities to experience the big-screen experience under the stars. Movies begin at dusk, and moviegoers are welcome to bring food and drinks as well as picnic blankets and lawn chairs. Screenings take place at different parks each week in neighborhoods ranging from Wicker Park to River North—multiple options are often available on the same night, so be sure to consult the complete 2025 schedule for details.

  • ChiTown Drive In - 2343 S Throop St, Chicago, IL 60608
A classic drive-in movie experience is available at ChiTown Drive In, an old-fashioned outdoor theater in the Pilsen neighborhood on Chicago's Lower West Side. ChiTown Drive In shows movies every Thursday through Sunday nights, often as double features with back-to-back movies at eight and 10:30 pm. Schedules vary, so be sure to check online. Attendees can watch from their vehicles in front of the screen, and concessions are delivered right to their cars.
