From the notorious murders during the 1893 World's Fair to the infamous exploits of gangsters and bootleggers, Chicago's history has many dark and ghostly chapters. Lincoln Park Zoo Haunted History Tours - Chicago, IL

Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo isn't just one of America's great animal attractions. According to legend, it's also haunted! Join tour guide Adam Seltzer on a Haunted History Tour at Lincoln Park Zoo this month, uncovering the zoo's cemetery roots and allegedly haunted past. Tours depart at 7:30 and 8:45 pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays through the end of October. Tickets are known to sell out fast, so don't miss your chance!

Chicago Haunted River Tour - Chicago, IL

Taking a tour of the Chicago River is a great way to see the city in any season, but Chicago Haunted River Tours offer a ghostly twist on this classic experience. Offered nightly throughout the month of October through Seadog Boat Tours, Haunted River Tours include spectacular views of the city skyline along with tales of spirits and supernatural occurrences, courtesy of your expert guide. Tours depart from the River Esplanade in Streeterville, and last for about 45 minutes. Costumes are encouraged!

The Gangsters and Ghosts Walking Tour sheds light on the city's former underbelly. Guided by a knowledgeable Chicago historian, this informative tour will explore numerous haunted locations and former crime scenes throughout The Loop, which was once known as Chicago's "Vice District."

    The Devil in the White City Bus Tour - Chicago, IL

    As detailed in Erik Larson's book, The Devil in the White City, H.H. Holmes is often considered to be America's first serial killer. The number of Holmes' victims during the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago remains unknown, but the Devil in the White City Bus Tour will visit many of the real-life locations related to this fascinating and dark chapter in Chicago history. Tours take place on select Saturdays at 2 p.m. starting at the Congress Plaza Hotel and include the site where the Great Chicago Fire began, the Prairie Avenue historic district, the Chicago World's Fairgrounds, and the site of H.H. Holmes' former "Murder Castle"
